Quinua grain (Chenopodium quinoa)

This grain is highly appreciated for its nutritional value since its protein content is very high (12 to 18%) which makes it a healthy choice for vegetarians. Quinoa is considered a complete protein source because it contains all 8 amino acids. No other grain has as much protein as Quinoa. It also provides the body with dietary fiber and phosphorus and is especially high in magnesium and iron. Quinoa is very easy to digest.

Quinoa is exceptionally high in Lysine, cystine and methionine – amino-acids which are typically low in other grains. About half a cup of Quinoa a day will provide children with all their protein needs for one day.

Cooked Quinoa is great in hot casseroles and soups, stews and salads. It cooks very quickly (only 15 minutes). Uncooked grain may be added to soups, stews and Quinoa is often used as a substitute for rice.
